Lying nestled in the Aravali Hills, just north of Jaipur, Samode Palace is a magnificent example of Rajput-Mughal architecture and is undoubtedly one of Rajasthan’s finest palace hotels.

Samode Palace sits in the hushed Aravalli hills of Rajasthan, an hour’s drive from Jaipur. Samode a small village is at 42 km distance from Jaipur. It is famous for its beautiful Samode Palace and Garden. The highlight of the building is the exquisite Diwan-I-Khas, which is covered with original paintings and mirror work. Samode palace has now been converted into a heritage Hotel.

Samode Palace was initially built in the 16th century as a Rajput Fort, but in the early 19th century, under Rawal Berisal, a high ranking noble from Jaipur, it was converted from a fort into an exquisitely designed palace in Rajput and Muslim architectural style. Rawal Sheo Singh, descendent of Rawal Berisal, further expanded the Palace.

Samode Palace is a brilliant example of European, Rajput & Mughal architectural designs. It was built using sandstone at the foot of Aravalli hills with a fortress like setting. The Palace encompasses the Durbar Hall, Sultan Mahal and Sheesh Mahal. The interiors of the palace are composed in the ancient architectural style of Rajasthan: marble floors, intricately ornamented pillars, mosaic walls decorated with old wall paintings. At the entrance gate of the palace is a piece of a large treasure chest made of dark wood with marble settings and gleaming glass. In 1987, it was converted into Samode Palace Heritage Hotel.

Visiting Samode Palace

Samode Palace Jaipur is located about 42kms north-west of the city and is close to Shekhawati on the tourist circuit of Rajasthan. Bus and taxi services are available from Jaipur and Delhi and the nearest railway station, Chomu is 5kms away. The train from Delhi takes around 4 hours. Jaipur is the nearest airport at 53km away.

Best time to visit is October to March whilst the temperature is in the 20s-30s. Go in the summer and temperatures get up to the 40s. Monsoon season is generally June-September.
